Seven
Powerful Christ-based Truths
about
Food,
Death, and Deliverance
I.
Originally, food was created for man’s pleasure,
but the first sin involved his inability to control his diet (Genesis
2:16
-17; Genesis 3:1-6).
II.
Since he was unable to control his diet, God cursed the ground.
As a result, all life from the ground including man and food were cursed.
So, food becomes a necessity for life, but food also becomes an agent of death
(Genesis
3:17
-18).
“Oh the calamity of sin.”
III.
Therefore, periodic abstinence from food is necessary for our spiritual and
physical health (Deuteronomy 8:3; Job 23:12; Matthew 4:2-4; John 4:31-34).
IV. Moreover, man was not originally designed to eat animals. So God
cautioned His people to limit animal ingestion because -- among other problems
– His people would defile themselves by assuming characteristics of the blood
borne products they ate. (Genesis 2:16-17; Genesis
9:2; Leviticus 3:17; Leviticus 7:23-24; John 6:53-56).
Which group do you eat most?
Group
1 (Blood
Borne)
Group 2 (Blood Borne)
Group 3 (Earth borne, Plant-based)
After generations or years of
eating blood borne products it is not surprising when the curves of the human
body begin to look similar to the food we eat most, particularly Group 1.
V. Today, food is the master for many. So
we are lured, charmed, and deceived into eating far more than what is necessary
or healthy (I Corinthians
6:12
-13).
VI. Jesus’ first act after baptism was to demonstrate His mastery over the
diabolical dietary demons. Jesus
launched into ministry by fasting for forty days, and afterwards He was hungry.
It is not a coincident that Satan’s first temptation involved the same
object that befell man in the garden, “FOOD,” and the same human function,
“EATING.” Fortunately,
Jesus rebuked Satan’s attempt by proclaiming and obeying God’s
Word (Genesis 3:1-6; Matthew 4:2-4).
VII. Now, we have the power available to overcome the glutton demons ( Isaiah
54:17; Philippians
4:13
; Romans 8:37-39; I John 4:4; I
Corinthians 10:13).
Heavenly Food For Physical Strength
Man
does not live (physically) by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from
the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:5-6)
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day (Psalms
71:8).
How
sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!(Psalms
119:103)
The
one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips
comes to ruin [true for words spoken, or food eaten, brackets mine] (Proverbs
13:3).
No weapon formed against us shall
prosper… (Isaiah 54:17)
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us…[overcome food
obsession and addiction ] (Philippians
4:13
)
In all these things we are more than conquerors…[conquer food obsession and
addiction ] (Romans
8:37
-39)
The most difficult experiences are common to mankind, but God provides the
pathway of escape [from obsessive and addictive eating] (I Corinthians
10:13
).
Greater is He in us than he that is in the world…(I John 4:4)
